Quick Notes

Forget me not – All preseason the media have been salivating over the introduction of CJ Spiller and the development of the potential 1-2 combo of himself and James Davis. Few outside the Clemson faithful seemed to remember that the previous year and the one before that there was a consistent backfield runner in the form of a cannon ball named Reggie Merriweather. Some local publications eked out minor articles about not forgetting Reggie but everyone knew that it would come down to game day to see if the preseason hype would take over Death Valley. In true Tiger fashion, the Clemson faithful proved that they did not forget who had developed and become the backbone of the backfield. With 5 minutes left in the first quarter, Reggie got the call and rambled off the longest run of the day at that point. After the play Death Valley boomed to the chorus of “Reggie, Reggie”. This continued throughout the day as Reggie once again proved that when you call his number, you get the yards. Proctor had to signal for crowd silence a few times to calm Death Valley down from their Reggie frenzy but nothing could hold back the elation when Reggie ran it in for 6 the first time. It was also very pleasing to see James Davis and CJ Spiller be the first ones off the sideline to bump chests with Reggie after the TD. Overall this RB crew seems to be a very cohesive unit that supports one another no matter what, congratulating and coaching each other at every possible moment.
Hey Mr. DJ – I don’t know what happened between last years Miami game and this years season opener but the DJ seems to have forgotten that the Death Valley crowd is not a hip-hop/rave group. Yes the student section and the hill may have been jumping all around to the “Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh” rave song but the rest of the stadium seemed awkward to it and could only clap to it. By the 17th time everyone was definitely sick of it. I also know that I was not the only one waiting all season to see the defense emerge onto the field to AC/DC’s “Hell’s Bells”, but alas that was wiped off the playlist it seems. I don’t mind the “Oh oh oh oh oh” song, but it was overkill when you heard it 10 times a quarter. This may seem ignorant but given the fact that IPTAY increased it’s consumption of parking spots and has taken over the entire campus and that the people that can afford the IPTAY spaces and perks are all alumni and the fact that the rave and popular rap scene came in a little after most of these established alumni graduated I can guess that classic rock would get a better reaction from the crowd. You can motivate the players with the music but when the Defense feeds off of the crowd, you pump the crowd up and in turn the defense.
ACC Night Games – If the GT/ND game was not enough proof that the ACC gets right and rowdy for night games, I don’t know what is. I was proud to see an ACC stadium, one of the smaller ones at that, that loud and crazy for a national TV game. Now if only they had defeated those golden domers and shut the hype up on that media darling, it would have been perfect. I know that night games are an inconvenience to some but the stadium takes on an entirely different energy when the Tigers are under the lights. I hope that we squeeze a couple in, ahem GT, this season.
Divisional Performance - Looks like the Atlantic Division is leading the Conference this week as everyone who played has won their first game. The Coastal Division on the other hand had one win this past weekend (and hopefully one more with Miami v FSU) with VT acing their opponent. I hope that division gets their act together as it was embarassing to watch Duke get shutout and UNC get defeated by a hyperactive Scarlet Knight offense.
Something old, Something new - This is the 2nd year of the gnomes in the football season, if you have any ideas on how we can improve the site please feel free to comment. Also check out the Photo Gallery for some pics around Clemson. We hope to have a functioning photo gallery soon to showcase tailgating and gameday atmospeheres as well as the gnomes themselves travelling to the different stadiums throughout the season. So far we have 1 gnome who is lined up to make every game except FSU.

You mentioned GT getting "Rowdy", I've never seen that in my 21 years on this earth. Half the stadium was ND fans. Don't get me wrong, I like your site and despise both teams.
